Nima Yushij’s House, located in the serene village of Yush in Mazandaran Province, is the birthplace and final resting place of Ali Esfandiari, better known as Nima Yushij, the father of modern Persian poetry. This beautifully preserved Qajar-era home, built from clay, wood, and stone, features traditional northern Iranian architecture with colorful stained glass, wooden lattice windows, and a peaceful courtyard where Nima, his sister Behjat, and literary friend Sirus Tahbaz are buried.
Now a museum, the house showcases Nima’s handwritten manuscripts, personal belongings, and photographs, offering a glimpse into the life and legacy of the poet who revolutionized Persian literature with She’r-e No (New Poetry). Surrounded by the lush Alborz Mountains, the village of Yush adds a poetic backdrop to this cultural gem, making it a must-visit for literature lovers and history enthusiasts alike.
