Attractions in Hormozgan | Hindu Temple
The Hindu Temple stands as a testament to the cultural and commercial exchanges between Iran and India, particularly during the time when Indian traders and migrants were active in Bandar Abbas. The temple is known for its unique architecture, which incorporates elements of Indian design, including a dome with moqarnas decorations and religious paintings.
The temple was constructed in the late Qajar period (1785-1925). Indian merchants and workers, including those on Qeshm and Hormuz Islands, contributed to its construction.
The temple has been renovated by the Cultural Heritage Office of Hormozgan Province after being abandoned by the Hindu community in 1965. It was officially registered as a National Heritage Site in 1998.
