Iran is not yet a mainstream tourist destination. There are no regular charter flights, and local residents are not accustomed to high tourist flows. Hotel services still lag behind global standards, and finding a good hotel at a reasonable price, especially during peak season, can be challenging.
Due to sanctions and Iran's economic isolation, international payment systems do not work, which can complicate the hotel booking process.
Hotels in Iran
Peak tourist seasons in Iran are winter and spring. Popular hotels can sell out a month in advance, so we recommend planning your trip early and booking your stay a month ahead. Iran Discovery can help select the best hotel based on your preferences and secure your reservation at a favorable rate.
Book a Hotel in Iran
Iranian hotels usually require 100% prepayment. Booking in advance guarantees your room upon arrival. Direct bookings by email or phone are possible but risky: hotels may claim they didn’t receive your message, or rooms may no longer be available. Prices for foreigners may also differ significantly when booking directly.
There are no major international hotel chains in Iran. Most large hotels were built after the Islamic Revolution on the basis of nationalized foreign hotels (Parsian, Laleh Group, Touring and Tourism Company), with a few new hotels constructed post-2010 by Turkish investors. Iran also has many private hotels, caravanserais, and traditional historic houses.

Hotels in Isfahan, Shiraz, Kashan
In these cities, you can stay in traditional caravanserais and experience authentic interiors reminiscent of historic trade routes. Historic houses are mainly located along classic tourist routes in Kashan, Isfahan, Shiraz, and Yazd, and are highly popular. Advance booking is recommended, as tourist groups may reserve all available rooms.

Hotels at Iran Resorts
The most famous resorts in Iran include Kish, Qeshm, Hormuz, and Hengam islands. Kish is particularly popular with Iranian tourists, offering sandy beaches and a large selection of hotels. Kish Island hotels provide diverse options for visitors. Qeshm is rich in natural attractions, including mangrove forests, salt valleys, salt caves, and beautiful canyons, with several 3- and 4-star hotels. Construction of the only 5-star hotel on the island was still ongoing at the time of writing.
