Ferdows Garden dates back to 1840 when it was founded under Mohammad Shah Qajar. Initially, it was a private palace complex: one of the courtiers, Haj Mirza Agasi, built two buildings and created an extensive garden in what is now the prestigious Tajrish district.
Over time, the garden changed several owners and experienced periods of decline and revival. Particularly notable was its transformation in the 20th century: in 1937, a school was located here, and after the Islamic Revolution of 1979, the complex briefly came under the management of the Islamic Radio and Television Organization.
Since 2002, the main building of the garden has housed the Iran Cinema Museum, giving the historical site a new cultural function by connecting the legacy of the Qajar era with modern art.
