Kolbadi Historical House, located in the heart of Sari, Mazandaran Province, is a beautifully preserved Qajar-era mansion that offers a vivid glimpse into Iran’s architectural and cultural past. Originally built in the late 19th century by Sardar Jalil, a military commander, and later inherited by Manouchehr Khan Kolbadi, the house features classic Persian elements like colorful orsi windows, intricate wooden carvings, and a central courtyard with a serene pond.
The house is divided into two main sections—Andaruni (private quarters) and Biruni (public reception areas)—and includes a traditional bathhouse, stables, and a basement that once functioned as a yakhchal (ice storage). Since 2009, it has operated as a museum of ethnography and archaeology, showcasing artifacts from prehistoric to Islamic eras, including pottery, coins, and local crafts.
