Abiyane:

Without a doubt, Abyaneh Village in Kashan is one of the most unique areas in Iran, and a visit here is sure to amaze you. Located 40 kilometers northwest of Natanz in Isfahan province, on the slopes of Mount Karkas, Abyaneh is famous for its distinctive local architecture and historical buildings. This village attracts many tourists each year due to its unique characteristics and its authentic culture, which have been preserved largely because it is situated in a mountainous area, far from densely populated urban centers. The village is also known as the "Red Village" because of the reddish hue of its soil.

The stunning landscape and the facade of the houses, with their traditional architecture, captivate every visitor. In addition to its architectural beauty and geographical location, Abyaneh is home to several historical monuments that enhance its appeal as a tourist destination. Recognized as a national monument, it was registered as one of Iran's national historical sites on August 20, 1975.

History of Abyaneh Village

Originally named Viona, which means "meadow," Abyaneh got its name due to its extensive meadows in ancient times. Over the years, the name evolved to Abyaneh. The village has a rich history, with buildings that date back to the Seljuk, Sassanid, Safavid, and Qajar eras. Ongoing archaeological excavations have uncovered the remains of a Sassanid castle, which adds to the village's historical significance.

Architecture of Abyaneh Village

Abyaneh is known for its authentic and charming rural houses, constructed along narrow, winding alleys. The houses are relatively small, and the architecture is distinctive, with many houses having courtyards that serve as the roofs of other homes. This unique design creates a stepped appearance throughout the village. The red soil, from which the bricks and adobe are made, contributes to the village's appealing look. The houses often feature large, pleasant verandas that provide a perfect spot for residents to enjoy the cool evening air.

Attractions in Abyaneh Village

Abyaneh is home to several historical landmarks, including castles, mosques, and shrines. Among the oldest monuments from the Zoroastrian period is a fire temple known as Hapark, which has a sacred fire that has been kept burning for many years. The remnants of several castles indicate that they were built for the protection and oversight of the villagers. These castles are strategically positioned to encircle the village on three sides. Notable castles include Pal Hamouneh (or Takht Haman) in the Yosmon neighborhood, Hardeh in the Hardeh neighborhood, and Paleh in the Pol neighborhood.

The village boasts 11 mosques, with the most famous being the Abyaneh Jame Mosque (or Mian Deh Mosque). A highlight of this mosque is its intricately carved wooden pulpit, created by an artist in 466 AH. Abyaneh also has two shrines: one is the tomb of Prince Isa and Prince Yahya, while the other, called Hinza or Bibi Zubaidah, is known as the Qadamgah of Bibi Zubaidah.
