- Why It Captivates
Rising boldly from the skyline of northwestern Tehran, Milad Tower isn't just a telecommunications structure — it's a statement. At 435 meters, it's the tallest tower in Iran, the sixth-tallest telecommunication tower in the world, and a beacon of the city's modern aspirations. Whether you're gazing up from the bustling streets below or dining in its revolving restaurant hundreds of meters above the ground, Milad Tower offers a rare blend of engineering brilliance, cultural pride, and panoramic beauty.
From Vision to Vertical Marvel
The idea for Milad Tower was born in the 1970s as part of the Shahestan Pahlavi project, a grand plan to modernize Tehran. Though the project was shelved after the 1979 revolution, the tower was revived in 1997 under the new government, aiming to create a new symbol for Tehran — one that would rival the legacy of Azadi Tower.
Designed by Mohammad Reza Hafezi, construction spanned 11 years, culminating in its grand opening on October 7, 2008, with the slogan “The sky is near.”
Architectural Highlights
Milad Tower is composed of five main sections:
- Foundation and Lobby: Six floors housing shops, food courts, and exhibition spaces
- Shaft: A 315-meter concrete core with six high-speed elevators and an emergency staircase
- Head Structure: A steel pod weighing 25,000 tons, containing 12 floors including observation decks, restaurants, and galleries
- Antenna Mast: A four-stage, 120-meter spire used for broadcasting
- Octagonal Base: A nod to traditional Iranian architecture, blending heritage with modernity
Dining Above the Clouds
Milad Tower's revolving restaurant offers a 360-degree view of Tehran while serving Persian and international cuisine. The VIP restaurant, Sky Dome café, and Tehran 360 dining experience make it a hotspot for romantic dinners, business meetings, and cultural gatherings.
Culture, Commerce, and Connectivity
Beyond its architectural allure, Milad Tower is a multifunctional complex:
Telecommunication hub for radio and TV broadcasting
Convention center hosting international exhibitions and conferences
Art galleries and museums showcasing Iranian creativity
Shopping mall and IT park for tech and retail enthusiasts
Entertainment zone with escape rooms, 6D cinema, and sky park adventures
