Bazaar of Kashan – A Timeless Persian Marketplace

This traditional bazaar is located in the historic district of Kashan, just a short distance from the city's most renowned attractions. Although the main structure dates back to the 19th century, it has served as a trading hub for over 800 years. Large enough to explore, yet not so vast that you lose your way, the bazaar continues to serve its purpose today.

The main attractions of the traditional bazaar in Kashan

The key landmark is the Timche Amin Al-Doleh caravanserai, featuring a grand dome at its centre, adorned with muqarnas (honeycomb vaulting) and traditional decorations. Beneath the dome, you'll find a small pool and a teahouse where you can savour Iranian tea accompanied by a piece of sweet nabat (crystalised sugar), while watching the flow of customers and merchants.

Other notable features of the Kashan bazaar include the Seljuk-era Soltani Mosque, situated on the main thoroughfare and accessible only to men, as well as the 800-year-old Mir Emad Mosque along the secondary route.

At the bazaar, you can taste traditional Iranian sweets, purchase local spices, Iranian saffron, and the renowned rose water of the finest quality, which is produced predominantly in Kashan.
