Pottery Museum (Alavi House)

Attractions of Tabriz | Pottery Museum (Alavi House)
The Sarraflar House was constructed during the late Qajar period and encompasses elements from both the Qajar and Pahlavi eras. The original owners of this house were the Sarraflar family, who lived there for many years. Eventually, the Alavi family purchased the house, becoming its last owners. This is why the house is sometimes referred to as the Sarraflar House and other times as the Alavi House.

In 2002, the Cultural Heritage and Handicrafts Organization of East Azerbaijan Province acquired the house from the Alavi family. After undergoing renovations, it was transformed into a pottery museum. This museum not only showcases pottery but also serves as a school for pottery enthusiasts. Visitors can witness all stages of pottery making, which is why it is known as the Living Pottery Museum.
